Gamify Your Class!
For anyone who knows me, it is no surprise that I am a huge fan of gaming and using game mechanics in the classroom. As a gamer, it has never surprised me to see the determination, satisfaction, and utter joy that comes from being on a quest and finally downing the boss or finding that ever elusive quest item. Having the ability to take all of that and channel it towards learning is just too good to pass up!
The button above takes you to a presentation that I did for my district during summer training. Some of the items that I have used in my classroom are linked below. These are just a few of the ways I added gamification to my class. I set up the whole theme as Superhero Squad. Students had assignments (Training Sessions) and Super Villain Smackdowns (Assessments/Projects) that allowed them to earn XP. The XP that they earned allowed them to level up their avatars/heroes.
